Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started, Insurance and Fees:

  • I see clients Monday through Thursday from 9am-2pm, and Fridays from 9am-12pm. I limit my schedule to 15 sessions per week so I can be fully present in our work together, and so I can dedicate time to ongoing training and professional consultation.

  • 50 minute individual session: $175

60 minute individual intake session: $220

  • I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Quest, and some Blue Cross plans.

For all other plans, I am considered an out of network (OON) provider. As a client, you’ll keep a card on file and it will be charged after every session. I am happy to provide clients with a superbill that you can submit directly to your insurance company for out of network reimbursement. A superbill is a detailed invoice, outlining the services you’ve received.

  • Clients pay the whole cost of the session up front. Then, you can submit superbills for therapy services directly to your insurance for reimbursement often through your member portal. After submitting the superbill, you may be reimbursed for some of the costs of therapy. Depending on your plan, you may be reimbursed anywhere from 60-80% of session costs.

It is your responsibility to be knowledgeable and up-to-date on all your health insurance benefits. I recommend you call the number on the back of your insurance card before scheduling an appointment to ask more about your mental health benefits. Some questions to ask your insurance company when you call:

    • Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health care?

    • What is my deductible?

    • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed after (and/or before) reaching my deductible?

    • Is there a limit on the number of sessions insurance will cover each year?

    • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

  • We'll have about 15 minutes to briefly discuss the issues you'd like to address in therapy along with your goals.  We'll talk about what qualities you're looking for in a therapist and I'll share about my approach to therapy. This is a good time to ask any questions you have about working together. If you decide you’d like to proceed, I'll send you some initial paperwork to complete electronically prior to scheduling our first therapy session.

  • The relationship between a therapist and client has a huge impact on your healing, so fit matters. If you believe I am not the appropriate provider for you, or if you prefer another type of specialization, I am happy to share referrals from my professional network that may better support you.

  • In our first session, I will be getting to know by asking you to share anything and everything that has led you to who you are today. This can include history, what a day in your life looks like, how you typically cope, who’s in your support system, what your previous therapy experiences have been like, and more.

We will take some time to review the initial paperwork you completed in your client portal. We will discuss the issues you've been facing and your goals for therapy in more detail based on what you shared in our consult call. Together, we will discuss a plan for how to address these concerns in future sessions. With our remaining time, we'll check in about how our first appointment together felt before making our next appointment.

  • All sessions take place online using a secure teletherapy platform. This means no extra commuting time, figuring out parking or transit, or needing to leave the comfort of your own home. I am licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and am able to meet with those residing in these states.

  • Therapy works best with commitment and consistency. I have found that my clients get the most out of therapy by meeting weekly as this allows us to build a trusting and secure relationship more quickly. It also helps you learn and use new skills and see progress. We can always reduce the frequency of our sessions when it makes sense for your goals and availability.

  • It can be different from person to person and is based on your needs. Some people come to therapy for just a few months to work on a short-term issue or to learn some new skills. Others may participate in therapy for several months to a few years, to focus on ongoing or deeper issues. Even those who are engaged in longer-term care will often still be working on managing short-term challenges. Ultimately, therapy can be effective and meaningful for any amount of time resulting in growth, insight, and skill building Together, we will explore when it feels appropriate to end our work together and discuss the process of termination as an expected part of your journey.

  • Absolutely. If I work on an issue you’d like help with and you’re at least 18 years old, please reach out for a free consultation.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I ask that you contact me with at least 24 hours notice prior to your appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or do not show up for your appointment, your standard session fee will be charged.

Things happen. Emergencies happen. If you are sick or have an emergency, you will not be charged the fee. If you would like to reschedule your appointment for another time during the week AND I also have a time slot available, you will not be charged the fee.

  • As of January 1, 2022, the "No Surprises Act" requires mental health practitioners to provide a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) for out-of-network care to uninsured clients or those not using insurance. These describe expected costs for your mental health care based on current information. While the total cost depends on the number of sessions and services you receive, the estimate provides an initial cost overview. You are in no way obligated to use any services listed and this is not a contract.
